Happy Hour is the product of a 24 hour session back in July 2019. Since the band’s inception in 2017, Work Friends’ members have been occasionally gathering from their respective corners of the country to make music together.
The new record reflects the band’s shift towards electronics, pushing the group into the self-described genre of SCI-FI JAZZ. The combination of shimmering twin tenors, piercingly processed keyboard, and sometimes-grounded drum and bass produce a unique aesthetic that borrows from jazz and rock idioms while remaining steadfastly disloyal to both.
